Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, under the Anambra State Police Command, have arrested a 30-year-old suspect, Okechukwu Chinweko, popularly known as “Bullet,” over alleged involvement in abduction, rape, and unlawful possession of firearm.
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of May 16, 2026, during a raid on a hideout in Umudike Community, Awka, following credible intelligence received by the Police.
According to the Police, the suspect, whose arm bears a tattoo inscription boldly written as “Bullet,” was apprehended by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
Items recovered during the operation include one locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was positively identified in connection with an incident that occurred on May 2, 2026, in which he allegedly abducted and raped a female victim before Police operatives rescued her.
The victim was reportedly found with varying degrees of injuries on her body, while the suspect escaped from the scene at the time.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, assuring residents that perpetrators of crime would continue to face justice regardless of how long it takes.
The Command further disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
