The Anambra State Police Command has cautioned residents against aggressively recording police officers during official duties in ways that may obstruct operations or provoke confrontations.
Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said while citizens have the constitutional right to record public officers, such actions must be done responsibly and within the law.
The Command condemned acts such as verbal abuse, intimidation, physical obstruction, and stalking officers with cameras during active operations, warning that such conduct could compromise public safety and hinder effective policing.
The Police urged content creators, social media users, and members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and use lawful channels to seek redress where necessary.
Ikenga reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and protection of citizens’ rights across Anambra State.
