Otti signals Labour Party unity, opens door for Abure’s return

Gov Alex Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called for unity in the Labour Party, saying the party is open to the return of former National Chairman, Julius Abure, and his supporters.

Speaking after the party’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja, Otti said reconciliation efforts were already progressing, with several members of Abure’s faction rejoining the leadership structure.

He explained that the party had adopted a “no victor, no vanquished” approach to resolve its internal crisis, adding that efforts were ongoing to reintegrate all aggrieved members.

Otti expressed confidence in the new leadership led by Nenadi Usman, noting that it would stabilise the party ahead of future elections.

He also clarified that the party was not part of any opposition coalition discussions, distancing it from the Ibadan summit on a joint presidential candidate.

The Labour Party has faced internal disputes since the 2023 elections, with court rulings and recognition by Independent National Electoral Commission affirming Usman’s leadership.
