The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bridge Head Division, Onitsha, CSP Uche Noah Onyinnaya, has identified inadequate patrol vehicles, insufficient communication gadgets and limited office accommodation as major challenges affecting operations in the division.

CSP Onyinnaya made this known during a familiarization visit by the Area Commander of Onitsha Area Command, ACP Fasugba Temitope, to the division.

Despite the challenges, the DPO said officers and men of the division have remained committed to their duties, noting that crime rate in the area remains relatively low through effective deployment of available manpower and collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders.

He commended ACP Temitope for strengthening intelligence gathering and surveillance, adding that the peaceful atmosphere in many parts of Onitsha is linked to the policing strategies introduced by the Area Commander.

Responding, ACP Temitope praised the officers for maintaining peace and order despite operational difficulties. He also appreciated the support of other security agencies, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), market leaders and residents.

The Area Commander urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies, stressing that effective policing requires public cooperation.

Stakeholders present included Chairman of PCRC, Dr. Frank Chika Udemmadu; Chairman of Onitsha Building Materials Market, Chief Chikodinaka Victor Ejiofor; Director of Operations, ATMA, Mr. Chetuya Benjamin Chibuzor; Manager of Polaris Bank, Mr. Teju Salami; and Chairman of Bridge Head Estate, Mr. Egbuna Obiora.
