Nwabali struggles for golden glove in South Africa

After the 2023 AFCON, Stanley Nwabali has taken his personal rivalry with Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to the South African PSL, Sporting Sun reports.

Williams piped Nwabali to the Golden Glove at the recent AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

Both shot stoppers are now locked in a battle for supremacy in the South African league.

Nwabali was in action for his South African side Chippa United as they thrashed Richards Bay FC 3-0 in just his second game after the AFCON.

The 27-year-old was between the sticks and grabbed a clean sheet against a Richards Bay team who posed little threat at the Super Eagles goalkeeper.

Nwabali has now got eight clean sheets for his club in 17 games.

This is two clean sheets behind leader for the Golden Gloves race Williams, who has recorded 10 clean sheets in just 13 for champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nwabali will therefore be looking to achieve more clean sheets to lay a claim for the PSL Golden Gloves at the end of the season.
