The Media and Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba Security Outfit, Comrade Nweke Nweke has declared that there is no hiding place for criminals in Anambra State as the community based security outfit continues to intensify efforts to track down hoodlums across the state.

Speaking on the activities of the security outfit, Nweke said Agunechemba operates an open system where its activities are made known to the public through the media, noting that transparency has helped build trust between the outfit and residents.

According to him, his responsibility as Media and Publicity Secretary is to enlighten members of the public and give voice to those who may not be heard.

“As the fourth estate of the realm, the media remains a critical channel through which the activities of Agunechemba are communicated. Through the media, people can sit in their homes and know what we are doing. We have no secrets, our operations are open,” he said.

Nweke explained that Agunechemba works closely with federal security agencies in the state, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, by providing grassroots intelligence that aids effective security operations.

“As a grassroots oriented security outfit, we gather information from communities and pass it to the police and other federal security agencies who handle the cases professionally,” he added.

He also attributed the peaceful celebration of the recent Christmas and New Year festivities in the state to the proactive security policies of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Nweke commended the governor for prioritizing security and providing logistics, modern digital equipment and welfare support for security agencies operating in the state.

“The governor is very security conscious. Without him, what is Agunechemba or Udoghachi? Other security agencies are federal institutions, but he has embraced all security apparatus in the state. Through his efforts, the hoodlums that once tormented Anambra have been overtaken,” he stated.

He further explained that Agunechemba relies heavily on community intelligence, stressing that information gathered from residents helps the outfit track suspected criminals who will soon be apprehended and arraigned in court.

Nweke, however, expressed concern over the shortage of manpower in the security outfit, noting that many young people are reluctant to volunteer to serve their communities.

“Even in the police and the army there is a shortage of manpower. Many youths are not willing to serve their state, they prefer quick money. But the doors of Agunechemba are open for those who have the passion to sacrifice for the security of our communities,” he said.

Despite the manpower challenge, he maintained that the outfit remains active across the state with officers operating in different locations, including undercover operations.

“Those who think they have a place to hide in Anambra should rethink. Wherever they believe they are alone, Agunechemba is there with them. There is no hiding place for criminals because we follow them like their shadow,” he warned.

Nweke also commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, for what he described as the successful coordination of community security initiatives in the state.
