Nnewi North celebrates Mayor Anazodo’s one year success in office

The people of Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Executive Chairman of the council, Mayor Echezona Anazodo.

The event featured the commissioning of the newly reconstructed and equipped Nnewi North Legislative Chambers by the Anazodo administration. The facility has been described as one of the best in the state.

Among those present were the Crown Prince of Nnewi, Prince Obianaefo Orizu, who represented His Royal Highness, Igwe K.O.N Orizu III; the Obi of Uruagu, His Highness Obi Afam Obi Ogidi; the Obi of Umudim, Obi Bennett Okafor; the President-General of Nzuko-ora Nnewi, Hon. Jude Osumuoh; Otolo PG, Hon. Amobi Adukwulu; Uruagu PG, Hon. Innocent Okoli; Supervisor for Special Duties, Chief Augustine Jidiofor (Austin Manuel); former Nnewi North TC Chairman, Hon. Chris Obiora, among others.

In his address, Mayor Anazodo thanked the people of Nnewi for their support and listed some of his administration’s achievements within one year. They include the construction of Ukwaka Bridge at Umudim, donation of security patrol vehicles, a ₦10 million empowerment grant for youths through the Nnewi Youth Forum, construction of Enem–Azigbo Road, rehabilitation of Egbu Umuenem Otolo Road, introduction of Operation Zero Potholes, construction of Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu Plaza with 176 shops, drainage works with culverts at F-Line Agbo Edo Main Market, provision of new vehicles for waste management, distribution of farm inputs to farmers, construction of market halls and offices at Mgbuka Motor Park and F-Line, construction of public toilets at Oduigbo Market, and installation of a 15KVA solar system at the local government secretariat.

He said the achievements were made possible through collaboration with the state government under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. He urged Nnewi residents to support the governor’s re-election bid, assuring that more projects would be delivered with their continued support.

Highlights of the anniversary included a march past, cultural displays, and prize awards to schools that participated in the march past.
