IKEMBA FRONT accuses Minister of Works, David Umahi of anti-party activity for supporting Soludo’s 2nd term bid

The flagship political support structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Ikemba Front, has condemned in the strongest terms the statement reportedly made by the Federal Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi in support of Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo.

The Minister was said to have made the statement during his courtesy call on the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, at the Goveror’s Lodge, Amaobia.

Engr. Dave Umahi had shortly after the flag off ceremony of the construction of access road to the second Niger Bridge linking Delta and Anambra States, phase 2B, allegedly openly endorsed Prof  Soludo’s second term bid.

He was quoted saying that Soludo has no opposition to contend with in the State as the Anambra governorship election draws nearer.

In a swift reaction, the National Coordinator of IKEMBA FRONT, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, berated the Minister for engaging in anti-party activity.

He said that the former Ebonyi State Governor spoke from the point of monumental ignorance, adding that the Minister was oblivious of the gains APC had made in Anambra State in recent times.

“Much as we attribute the inglorious comment of the Honorable Minister to monumental ignorance about Anambra political environment and the gains of our party in the state, we condemn in the strongest possible terms the statement as spewed by the uninformed Minister.

“It’s somewhat of a gibberish coming from a supposed partyman. One wonders what sort of point he intends to score with such self-serving statement?”

Sir Awogu accused Engr. Umahi of being part of the clique in the South-East that does not wish APC to win in Anambra State for selfish reasons.

He said they did so for them to continue to pillage Anambra State and share slots meant for the State at the federal level among themselves in the pretense that Anambra State is not with the party at the centre.

“It’s all perfidy and narrow-interest. I challenge the Minister to show the world Soludo’s result as a sitting Governor of a State in the election that produced Mr President.

“He couldn’t deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his State as a serving Governor. His presidential election result for APC was a disaster. But let an APC government emerge on 8th of November, 2025 in Anambra State and see if Anambra APC will not deliver Mr President in the 2027 presidential election, “he said.

The group called on President Ahmed Tinubu to call the Minister to order.

“We call on Mr President to reprimand the Minister for going beyond his briefs and for indulging in anti-party activity, “he added.

The group also said that the Minister was not aware that the party in Anambra State has been rejuvenated and placed on winning ways.

They said that the Hon. Minister could not say that there is no opposition, if he is not oblivious of the grassroots appeal the party now enjoys courtesy of the commitment of the members of the party in Anambra State, and may also not be aware that Ndi-Anambra are very serious in their avowed move to the centre this time around.

Ikemba Front emphasized that Soludo’s attempt on infrastructure and human capital development which the Minister said had humbled the opposition, was a far cry, and maintained that an APC government in Anambra State would achieve far more in less than one year what Prof Soludo claimed to have achieved in three years.

The group insisted that APC would defeat Prof Soludo thoroughly in the coming Anambra State governorship election, saying that the masses had pitched their tent with the APC in the State.
