The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Anambra State, has provided free medical services to over 120 residents of Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, under its third-quarter Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
The outreach, held at Ogidi Town Hall, offered free medical consultations, diagnostic tests and medications to residents, particularly those facing financial difficulties in accessing healthcare.
Flagging off the exercise, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, said the initiative was designed to bring essential healthcare closer to rural communities and promote early diagnosis and preventive healthcare.
She reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to community development and improving the wellbeing of vulnerable residents.
The traditional ruler of Ogidi Kingdom, Igwe (Pharm.) Alex Uzo Onyido, pledged the community’s support for initiatives promoting public health and residents’ welfare.
Also present were the President General of Ogidi Union Nigeria, Mr Chijioke Ewesiobi, and its Secretary General, Dr Emeka Muoemenam.
