Nnewi Bishop’s Court demolition: ‘This is nothing but intimidation’-Diocesan CSO

Recent demolition of  the  frontage of Nnewi Bishop’s Court, Diocese of Nnewi Anglican Communion has been a source of worry to the Church.

In a report posted online, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Diocese, Hon Nnamdi Azubuko said that about fortnight ago, the frontage of the Nnewi Bishop’s Court was singled out and demolished by the agents of the State government without any prior information or notice.

He explained the Bishop’s Court as the official office and residence of the Anglican Bishop.

“Please Ndi Anambra, I need an answer to this puzzle, puzzle because I’m yet to understand the reason behind the action.

“The Nnewi Diocesan Bishop’s Court is on the Old Onitsha Road, now known as Dr Cletus Ibeto Ave, totally off the Nnobi-Ozubulu Rd that is under construction.

“No other building was demolished on that road after the demolition of the Bishop’s Court. I was told that the Mayor of Nnewi North said that it was a mistake, that it was demolished in error.

“Ok, I also learnt that the Anambra State Commissioner for works confirmed that the Bishop’s Court Road is not among the roads mapped out for construction or rehabilitation.

“Agreed that it was a mistake, what is the reason behind the delay in fixing it ? It’s now more than two weeks of the demolition and nothing has been done about it.This is nothing but intimidation.

“They simply want to demystify the revered Bishop’s Court for reasons best known to them. I don’t want to believe the insinuation by some people that it was done because it’s the Anglican Bishop’s Court.

“Please I am writing and asking this question as a concerned Anglican. I believe that the Governor may not have received this story, therefore, let his aides be quick and let him know about this dastardly act done to the Anglican Bishop’s Court, “he concluded.
