The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for the November 8 election in Anambra State, Chief George Moghalu, has expressed strong confidence that his party will defeat the incumbent, Professor Charles Soludo, and usher in a new era of purposeful leadership in the State.

Speaking during his campaign tour of Nkwo Nnewi Market and DCC, where he was accompanied by the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, Chief Moghalu assured the people that his victory was certain, declaring that “God has destined it.”

He said the massive turnout of traders and supporters despite the downpour was a clear demonstration of the people’s desire for change and their readiness to enthrone a government that truly serves their interests.

“It’s not an abomination for an Nnewi man to become the Governor of Anambra State,” Moghalu declared amid cheers from the crowd.

“Expect that the Labour Party will win the election convincingly. The latent force of labour will manifest on November 8, you will see it, ”he added.

The LP candidate said he was confident of victory because he could feel the pulse of Ndi Anambra and their overwhelming sentiment in favour of the Labour Party. According to him, the enthusiasm and acceptance he received during his campaign tour were clear signs that the people were tired of the current administration and yearning for change.

On why he believes Governor Soludo’s defeat is imminent, Chief Moghalu said it was evident that the incumbent had realized the election would not be a walkover.

“Governor Soludo has seen that this fight will be tough for him. That’s why he changed his earlier stance that his re-election would be a mere formality. If it were so easy, he wouldn’t be campaigning this vigorously,” he said.

Chief Moghalu told the people of Nnewi that his ambition was rooted in his commitment to their welfare and the progress of the entire Anambra State. He promised to bring inclusive leadership, economic empowerment, and infrastructural development that would impact every part of the State.

“I am running for the interest of my people and for the betterment of Anambra. Ndi Anambra are rooting for the Labour Party because they want a better leadership, one that listens, one that delivers,” he affirmed.

The campaign event, which drew large crowds of traders, artisans, and supporters, also had Peter Obi urging the people to rally behind Moghalu and vote massively for the Labour Party to consolidate the vision of good governance and accountability across the state.
