Mayor of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Chimezie Obi ( Onyemezi), has called on Anambra youths to reject division and embrace peace, unity and development within their communities.
Speaking during the annual New Yam Festival held in Ihembosi,Ekwusigo Local Government Area,Anambra State , Mayor Obi encouraged both young men and women to serve as builders of society, not its destroyers. He stressed that youths must become catalysts for unity and development rather than tools of discord.
He also urged them to look beyond outdated stereotypes about farming and recognize agriculture as a profitable and respectable profession. Highlighting the success of entrepreneur Dr. Mmaduka Coscharis, Obi noted that Coscharis Rice stands among the best in Nigeria and potentially across Africa. He emphasized that farming is no longer a poor man’s venture but a goldmine for innovative minds.
Obi reminded the youths that many prominent business leaders began with humble beginnings and encouraged them to start small while aiming high.
On the state’s leadership, the Mayor lauded Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his efforts in infrastructural development and agricultural reform. He praised the transformation of Ihembosi, which now boasts motorable roads, crediting it to Soludo’s visionary leadership.
Describing Anambra’s current progress as a “Dubai in the making,” Obi called on Ndi Anambra to re-elect Governor Soludo for a second term, stating that the reward for good work is more work, urging citizens to allow him to complete the projects he has started.
