Jubilation in Anambra as Mayor restores electricity after 13 years black out

Workers at Njikoka Local Government Secretariat, Anambra State, have expressed joy following the restoration of electricity after 13 years of blackout by the newly sworn-in chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Ikechukwu Okakpu.


Electricity supply to the secretariat was reportedly disconnected by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in 2013. However, Okakpu restored power less than one week after assuming office.


Excited workers visited the chairman’s office to appreciate him, describing the development as a new beginning for the council.


Responding, Okakpu assured the workers that the restoration was only the beginning, promising further improvements to enhance their working conditions and service delivery.


He described the development as a new beginning for the people of Njikoka under his leadership.
