Residents of Fegge, Onitsha, have commended the police and local vigilante groups for improved security in the area, saying criminal activities have drastically reduced in recent months.

Speaking during a visit by the Area Commander, ACP Fasugbe Temitope Olajire, Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Chief Godfrey Maduekwe, said residents can now “sleep with their two eyes closed” because of the renewed peace in the community.

He attributed the development to the efforts of the Divisional Police Officer of Fegge Police Division, CSP Effion Okon, alongside vigilante groups and other security agencies.

According to community leaders, incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery and phone snatching have reduced significantly across the four communities under the division.

Managing Director of TransGlobe Pharmaceuticals, Chief Eli, praised the Area Commander for strengthening police-community relations and pledged continued support for security efforts in the area.

President General of Fegge Community, Chief Okwudili Obinwanne, and President General of Woliwo Community, Chief Ifanyi Onwuabuchi, also applauded the cooperation between residents, vigilantes and the police.

Responding, ACP Fasugbe Temitope Olajire thanked residents for their support and urged them to continue sharing useful information with security agencies to help sustain peace and security in the area.
