The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Alexander Ibezim, has called for economic reforms driven by agricultural revolution to address rising poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.

Speaking during the 14th Synod of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Awka, held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, Ibezim stressed the need to reposition the church through effective youth ministry.

He said the future of the church depends largely on how young people are nurtured, guided and empowered, urging schools to strengthen moral education while parents take active roles in the spiritual upbringing of their children.

Also speaking, Samuel Ezeofor encouraged churches and families to create an environment where youths can freely express themselves.

In his sermon, Emmanuel Onsachi urged youths to believe in themselves and remain focused to achieve their potential.
Director of Awka Diocesan Youth Academy, Uchenna Umeifekwem, and LOC Chairman, Nonso Ifesinachukwu described the Synod theme as timely, noting that the church cannot thrive without the youths.
