A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating under the platform of CEDYK, Nnewi North, has extended a helping hand to children with special needs by donating cash support to the Nnewi Diocesan Special Education Centre School for Children with Special Needs of the Anglican Communion.
The humanitarian visit, which took place on Sunday, was led by the group’s Coordinator, Mr. Danchimah Eberechukwu Joseph, and Secretary, Mrs. Amaka Dike, who presented an undisclosed cash gift to assist in the upkeep of the children and support the centre’s activities.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Joseph said the organization’s mission is centered on alleviating the suffering of the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.
According to him, the group deliberately chose the special education centre as part of its commitment to humanitarian service and to seek prayers from the children for the continued growth and expansion of the organization.
‘Caring for the Less Privileged Is Non-Negotiable’
Also speaking, the Duke of CEDYK from Nnewi South, Iyke Uzukwu, stressed that caring for the less privileged remains a core objective of the NGO.
He urged wealthy individuals and privileged members of society not to neglect vulnerable persons, emphasizing that they deserve equal care, attention, and inclusion as valuable members of the community.
Centre Appreciates Gesture, Highlights Challenges
Responding on behalf of the centre, Sister Chinyere Ali expressed gratitude for the visit and donation, describing the gesture as timely and encouraging.
Similarly, Sister Mary Akaolisa thanked the group for remembering the children and contributing to their welfare.
When asked about some of the challenges facing the institution, Sister Akaolisa identified the lack of adequate accommodation for teachers as one of the pressing needs requiring urgent attention.
Members Share Passion for Humanitarian Service
One of the members of the visiting delegation, Mr. James Ugochukwu Iwudo, said he joined the humanitarian group out of a desire to positively impact the lives of less privileged persons.
The visit ended on a touching note as the children offered special prayers for the organization, taking turns to pray for its continued success and capacity to reach more people in need.
