The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, on Tuesday led top security chiefs in Anambra State, including the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, on an inspection of key facilities and strategic locations within the institution ahead of the visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The inspection formed part of measures to ensure a hitch-free and secure visit by the First Lady, who is expected to commission key projects at the polytechnic.
The team inspected the ICT Experience Centre and two other projects scheduled for commissioning by the First Lady, while also assessing access points, movement routes and other critical security arrangements within the institution.
Speaking during the exercise, the Rector said preparations for the visit were in top gear, assuring that the polytechnic was fully ready to welcome the First Lady.
She described the visit and commissioning of the projects as a major milestone in the history of the institution, urging people of goodwill to join the polytechnic community in giving Senator Tinubu a warm welcome.
Also speaking, CP Nnanna Oji Ama commended the Rector and the management of the institution for the preparations put in place ahead of the visit.
The police commissioner also praised the Rector for her achievements at the polytechnic, particularly in the areas of infrastructural development, the fight against cultism and related crimes, and the promotion of quality education.
The visit is expected to further highlight ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and strengthen academic and institutional development at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
