The Youth Wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) has honoured 14 distinguished personalities from Aguata Local Government Area for their contributions to community development, philanthropy, leadership and human capital development.
The ceremony, held at the Solution Stadium, Ekwulobia, attracted community leaders, youths, traditional stakeholders and government officials.
President-General of the ASTUC Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, said the recognition was designed to celebrate individuals whose lives exemplify integrity, excellence and selfless service.
Okoli urged Anambra youths to embrace discipline, hard work, honesty, patriotism and communal living, stressing that responsible citizens were essential to the development of society.
He also unveiled the 12 Core Values of Onye Anambra, including patriotism, self-reliance, discipline, truth, justice, community, dignity of labour, tolerance and love.
The Mayor of Aguata LGA, Hon. Chibeze Ofobike, commended ASTUC for recognising role models, describing the initiative as an investment in human capital development.
Ofobike reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, transparent leadership and grassroots development, while urging youths to uphold integrity and patriotism.
Responding on behalf of the award recipients, Chief Arinze Ezenwa (Ugo Ka Ugo) of Ekwulobia thanked ASTUC for the honour and pledged to strengthen his support for humanitarian causes, youth mentorship and community development.
Chief Sunday Agwa of Ezinifite also expressed appreciation and promised continued support for initiatives promoting peace, unity, youth development and sustainable community growth.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Reformation, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, urged youths to shun criminality, social vices and the pursuit of quick wealth, stressing that lasting success requires discipline, hard work and good character.
Omenugha also reaffirmed his support for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of a peaceful, secure and prosperous Anambra driven by youth reformation and human capital development.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. K.C. Okoli, urged leaders to continue leading by example, describing good character as the foundation of enduring leadership.
