Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of two major road projects in the Southeast, describing the decision as a historic step toward regional development.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Soludo said the approval reflects Tinubu’s commitment to rebuilding the Southeast and healing the wounds of the Civil War.
According to the governor, he met with the President on July 1, after which the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, requested priority road projects. Soludo said he submitted the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji (Kogi) Road and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road for consideration.
He disclosed that on July 15, the Ministry of Works informed him that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.
Soludo said the roads would boost connectivity across the Southeast, South-South and North Central regions, adding that more landmark infrastructure projects for the Southeast would be unveiled in due course.
