Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Hon Udechukwu pays solidarity visit to factory fire victim in Nnewi

The Anamabra State Commissioner for Industry, Hon Chris Udechukwu has on behalf of the Governor of the State, Prof Charles Soludo paid a solidarity visit to a factory in Nnewi, Ngo Bros Limited which was burnt down by fire a couple days ago.

During the visit which took the Hon Commissioner round the burnt sections of the factory, after a brief meeting with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the manufacturing firm, Mr Humphrey Ngonadi, Hon Udechukwu said the State government would work with deliberate and purposeful intension to rebuild the ruins.

He said what would come out of the ruins after reconstruction would be a modern factory with more advanced technology in a shortest possible time.

“A team from the Ministry of Environment will come here for assessment and do a report that will be part of the reconstruction and rebuilding.

“The factory is a very important establishment and Ngo Bros is a leading industrialist not just in Nnewi, Anambra State, he is also a national player, the Vice President of South East and South South Chamber of Commerce which is part of National Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA).

“So, he is a very significant player in organized private sector. And it’s most unfortunate that this accident has happened. 

“Mr Governor has asked me to come here and commiserate with him, reassure him, and for him to be encouraged and be ready for the rebuilding and reconstruction of a new factory as he would like to see that it is done as quickly as possible, “he assured.

The Commissioner disclosed that the Anamabra State government has funds to support industrial development. 

He said government works closely with development finance institutions like the Bank of Industry, Development Bank of Nigeria, among others to ensure that finances are accessible for the rebuilding of the establishment.

“Government is not intervening in terms of financing it itself. But the intervention will be to enable Ngo Bros to have access to finance, development finance through the Bank of Industry and others, “he added.

The Hon Commissioner also disclosed that his Ministry would begin to do a reassessment and evaluation of emergency services in Nnewi to ensure that whenever there is an emergency situation, there would be quick response.
