The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Newton Isokpehi, over a viral video showing him allegedly threatening violence and engaging in unprofessional conduct.
The Command said the officer was identified and arrested immediately after reviewing the video circulating on social media.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, the police disclosed that disciplinary proceedings had commenced against the officer.
The statement, signed by DCP Ngozi Ezeabata, added that the officer had also undergone a drug test as part of ongoing investigations.
The Command condemned the officer’s conduct, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force would not tolerate misconduct or actions capable of undermining public confidence.
Police assured residents that the outcome of the disciplinary process would be made public.
