Former governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Chioma Ifemeludike has emerged as the party’s senatorial candidate for Anambra Central ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ifemeludike secured the ticket through consensus during the party’s primary election monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The exercise also produced Agozie Mmotoh as AAC House of Representatives candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency.

Speaking after her emergence, Ifemeludike thanked party members for their confidence, promising quality representation and people-oriented leadership.

She said AAC remained committed to good governance despite lacking the large structures of bigger political parties, insisting that passion and integrity were more important than money and political influence.

The AAC deputy national chairperson also condemned vote-buying and transactional politics, describing them as major threats to democracy and urging voters to embrace “mind revolution” for positive change.

Ifemeludike is expected to face strong competition in 2027, including incumbent senator Victor Umeh and candidates from other major parties.
