As the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State approaches, the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Col. Sir Prof. Geoffrey Okwudili Onyejegbu (rtd.), has assured the people of Anambra that a new dawn awaits them under his leadership, if elected governor.

Speaking at the maiden summit of the Nnewi People’s Forum (NPF) held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Anaedo Social Club Hall, Nnewi, Prof. Onyejegbu declared that his mission was to restore Anambra’s lost glory across all sectors of governance.

The NNPP candidate, a retired military officer and security expert, emphasized that security of lives and property would top his administration’s agenda. According to him, no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of insecurity.

“I believe in action. Maintaining security of lives and property is never a rocket science,” he said. “Anambra has been deceived for too long. Under my watch, every part of the state will receive fair and equitable attention. Equity, justice, and fairness will guide our development plan, ”he submitted.

Prof. Onyejegbu assured Ndi Anambra that his government would be people-oriented and performance-driven, anchored on discipline, transparency, and accountability.

He pledged to reposition the education sector by providing a conducive learning environment for students and teachers, revamp the health sector with modern equipment and well-trained personnel, and empower farmers with the necessary support to boost food production and ensure food security.

Addressing participants at the Nnewi People’s Forum, he described Nnewi as the “Japan of Africa,” a city of industry, innovation, and enterprise that deserves special infrastructural attention from the state government. He noted that despite being a major revenue hub for Anambra, Nnewi had suffered neglect over the years.

“Nnewi contributes significantly to the state’s internally generated revenue, yet we lack essential infrastructure. If Ekwulobia can have a flyover, why not Nnewi?” he asked rhetorically, drawing applause from the audience, “he added.

Prof. Onyejegbu urged the people of Nnewi and Anambra at large to support his candidacy, assuring them that his government would usher in a new era of inclusive governance, economic revitalization, and sustainable development.

“All I ask for is a chance to serve. Give me that opportunity, and I will make Anambra better,” he declared.

The event, which attracted prominent sons and daughters of Nnewi as well as political stakeholders across the state, ended with a resounding endorsement of his message of hope and transformation.
