Anambra government partners actors, actresses, content creators, others to boost creative industry

The Anambra State Government has held a round table meeting with members of the creative industry in the State to promote that sector.

The State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji said that the discussion anchored on the Anambra State creative industry: solution and prospects was apt.

The Commissioner disclosed this in Awka on Wednesday during the meeting.

Onyenji, charged members of the creative industry in the State to form a formidable force that would provide needed positive narratives in the industry to boost Anambra’s  image and its creative economy.

He said that the meeting was apt based on the fact that there is need to nip the wrong narratives being pushed into the media space which de market  the State and its public in the name of entertainment.

“We want to ensure that all the energy in the industry are harnessed to touch lives positively, since Governor Charles Soludo is passionate about developing the sector for the good of the practitioners and that of the populace,” he said.

Onyenji noted that the first ever Anambra Creative Week will soon hold; where all the artists, content creators, broadcasters, DJs, musicians, actors and actresses, among others, would gather and stage a show for themselves and others.

He  recalled that the opening of “Solution Fun City” a recreational facility during which the  Governor  invited so many members of the creative Industry was one way he has shown that he valued their talents and is ready to give them opportunity to shine.

Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Entertainment, Mr Bob-Manuel Udokwu, a veteran actor,  called for a State brand; instead of individual brands for quicker development of the industry.

Udokwu regretted that conspiracy theory has remained the bane of development of the industry in Anambra, calling for a synergy and unity of purpose among the members.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Station ,(ABS),  Mr Chris Molokwu noted that before now, people saw members of the industry as unserious people, but that there has been turn of events where they are now needed.

Molokwu advised the artistes to positively maintain the new narrative where they are valued as he frowned at the manner with which they paint Anambra black and blow issues out of proportion.

He said that such negative vibes give the State a wrong status around the world, which he noted dwindles chances of people coming into Anambra for business and relaxation.

Molokwu charged them to use their power to project the State and all the good works of  the Governor, expressing happiness that Anambra has a lot of quality people in the industry.

Mrs Chinyere Okonmah, the President of ANAWOOD, , applauded the  State government for the move and supported the call for synergy among them.

Mr Mirioma Nadi, a content creator commended the State government for their thought to officially recognise their importance in the growth and development of the State through their factual content dissemination to the public.

Nadi who spoke on behalf of the artistes assured that the body would join hands with the government to project and promote the striking dividend of democracy ongoing in Anambra to the world.
