…Vows to end preventable deaths, ease burden on poor patients

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief John Chuma Nwosu, has pledged to make healthcare delivery one of the top priorities of his administration if elected in the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.

Addressing supporters and stakeholders, Chief Nwosu assured Ndị Anambra that his government would give unprecedented attention to the health sector, with a clear vision to reduce mortality rates to the barest minimum across the state.

According to him, it is unacceptable for patients, especially the poor and less privileged, to struggle to pay medical bills or be detained in hospitals after receiving treatment. He vowed that under his administration, such cases would become a thing of the past.

Chief Nwosu disclosed plans to establish a comprehensive healthcare system anchored on primary healthcare services that are accessible, affordable, and fully equipped to handle emergencies.

His blueprint, he said, includes the provision of modern medical facilities, free emergency response and transport services, as well as the deployment of qualified health personnel to rural and urban communities.

“Our people deserve quality healthcare without fear of cost,” Nwosu said. “Every life matters, and we must build a system where no Anambra indigene dies simply because they cannot afford treatment, ”hr added.

He emphasized that his proposed reforms would not only upgrade hospitals but also strengthen community health centres, ensure regular supply of essential drugs, and introduce mobile health units to reach remote areas.

Chief Nwosu added that his vision aligns with his broader “SHEEEMS” development agenda, which prioritizes social welfare, human capital development, and technology-driven governance for a healthier, safer, and more prosperous Anambra State.
