Abia State has become the host of Nigeria’s first Manufacturing Technology University Innovation Pod (Manu-Tech UniPod), inaugurated at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.
The project is a partnership involving the Federal Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the Abia State Government.
Representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Education Dr. Olatunji Alausa said the innovation hub would transform universities into centres for research, entrepreneurship, industrial development and job creation, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s economic vision.
Governor Alex Otti described the project as a vote of confidence in Abia’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and manufacturing.
UNDP officials said the facility would help nurture young innovators, promote technology-driven enterprise, and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial growth.
