Foundation moves to halt suicide menace, seeks sponsorship, partnership

A group known as Life Purpose Foundation (LPF) has risen to tackle increasing suicidal cases in many parts of Nigeria.

The foundation which came on board recently due to incessant cases of suicide committal across nooks and crannies of the country has the target to assist people to realize their life purpose and destiny.

The Director General of the Foundation, Bro. Hillary Nnamani while briefing newsmen expressed concern over the menace of suicide. He said the foundation would bring relief through Logo-therapy to people who bear existential crises.

He disclosed that the objective of the foundation was to curb the menace of suicide cases which he noted were remotely caused by deviation from life purpose. He said one of the objectives as well was to promote longevity and fulfillment in life for people as well as eradicate death-bed regrets of failure due to ignorance.

Nnamani said: “We have been partnering with Nigeria Correctional Service Enugu, Custodial Centre and NDLEA in rehabilitating inmates for proper reintegration into society. We guide students of both secondary and tertiary institutions to their right individual Life Errand.

“We have that intention of rehabilitating the depressed and educate and guide others to their life purpose so as to avoid such crisis.

“We intend to proliferate centers for such assisted people living everywhere in Africa to the end of the Earth. But the project is capital intensive. We are yet to be sponsored.

“We have remote and immediate causes of the problems. The remote cause of most of the problems is repudiation of one’s life purpose. When one repudiates one’s life purpose, they are like someone who attended a big conference and during lunch could not locate a banquet hall with a banquet table bearing their name tag. The person could miss the lunch or manage with crumbs or leftovers from someone’s table. This is mediocrity, debase and frustrating if one has to live like this throughout life time, hence they go for suicide.

“Criminal life style, depression, alcoholism and womanizing, among other things could also be observed as consolidation lifestyles they adopt.

“To checkmate this problem, everyone needs to be assisted to discover their life purpose ( ‘akalaka/Ikigai’ in Igbo parlance) on time so that they would live relevantly to themselves and the entire society. They can then enjoy long, healthy and fulfilled life. Since everyone is involved, we need to pass this teaching to every organized group of people including Churches, schools and so on and proliferate centres all over the world to reach everyone.

“As time goes on, and especially when we are sponsored, we too will quarter and rehabilitate people who bear with existential crisis, that is, those who repudiated their life meaning in our various centres.”
