The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama has ordered the immediate issuance of queries to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of 3-3 Police Station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), while directing disciplinary proceedings against an Inspector of Police over allegations surrounding the whereabouts of an armed robbery suspect reportedly arrested and brought to the station.
The directives were issued on Monday, October 5, 2026, after CP Nnanna personally interviewed the complainant and police officers concerned following a viral video alleging that an armed robbery suspect arrested and taken to the station could no longer be accounted for.
CP Nnanna described the allegation as serious, adding that such an incident, if established, could undermine public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
He warned that the Command would not tolerate unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, abuse of office or any compromise of established police procedures by its personnel.
The Commissioner consequently directed the Command’s X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest, detention, documentation and subsequent whereabouts, as well as the roles and responsibilities of all officers involved.
He also disclosed that necessary operational measures had been put in place to facilitate the arrest of the suspect, assuring members of the public that the outcome of the investigation would be communicated once the facts had been established.
The Commissioner cautioned members of the public against circulating unverified information capable of prejudicing the ongoing investigation, urging everyone to allow due process to take its course.
He reiterated that accountability remained a core component of his leadership philosophy, stressing that no police officer was above scrutiny or the established disciplinary process.
Confirming the development in a statement on Tuesday, October 6, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner had taken the necessary steps to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
Ikenga urged the public to remain calm and avoid the spread of unverified claims while the investigation continues.
