The Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union has prayed for the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, and pledged its support for his bid to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The women made the pledge on Friday during their 2026 August Meeting held at Alayi Central School, Alayi, which attracted Dr. Anyaso and other prominent personalities.
Addressing the gathering, Anyaso said he decided to attend the meeting personally because of his respect for the people of Alayi, despite having visited the community earlier in the week.
He explained that after receiving the invitation, he initially considered sending a representative because he had been in Alayi on Sunday, but later decided to honour the invitation himself.
Anyaso: Bende Deserves Quality Representation
The Labour Party candidate attributed the prevalence of poor-quality projects in parts of Bende Federal Constituency to what he described as ineffective representation.
He also commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for what he described as a governance approach anchored on competence and sound judgment.
According to Anyaso, effective leadership should translate into sustainable development and projects that provide lasting value to the people.
He said many of his interventions and support programmes across Bende had been personally funded, assuring the people of his continued commitment to the constituency.
“All what I have been doing in Bende is from my pocket, but by the grace of God, come 2027, God will send us to Abuja,” he said.
Anyaso promised that, if elected, he would pursue transparent and quality-driven projects while ensuring greater accountability in the execution of federal projects.
He stressed that communities across Bende deserved infrastructure executed to the highest standards and pledged to make quality and accountability central to his representation.
Women Pray for Anyaso
Responding on behalf of the women, the President-General of the Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union, Mrs. Jane Okorie, prayed for Anyaso and expressed confidence in the realisation of his political ambition.
“For taking care of Alayi women, that which is your heart’s desire will be granted come 2027,” she prayed.
The August Meeting brought together women from different parts of Alayi for interaction, prayers and discussions on community development and political representation.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche; Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya; and Director of Women Mobilisation of the Chima Anyaso Campaign, Mrs. Ezinne Okorie, among others.
