The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the list of qualified candidates for the forthcoming general elections, in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), confirming Dame Princess Esom-Nwafor Orizu as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
The publication has put to rest all speculations and controversies surrounding the party’s candidacy for the constituency, with INEC’s list serving as the only legal and constitutional basis for participation in the election.
Reacting to the development, stakeholders described the publication as a triumph of due process and internal democracy within the APC.
The Anambra State chapter of the APC called on party faithful and supporters to remain united and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship as the party prepares to officially commence its campaigns on August 19.
The party also warned individuals and groups against spreading misleading information and engaging in divisive rhetoric, stressing that such actions threaten the peace, unity and progress of the party.
“APC Anambra remains one indivisible family. We must not allow selfish interests or cabals to undermine the peaceful coexistence and progress we have built in our great party,” the statement said.
Party leaders, stakeholders and members across Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo congratulated Dame Princess Esom-Nwafor Orizu on her confirmation, expressing confidence in her leadership qualities, experience and commitment to delivering effective representation and attracting meaningful democratic dividends to the constituency.
In her remarks, Dame Princess Esom-Nwafor Orizu reaffirmed her commitment to running an issue-based campaign centred on development, security, economic empowerment and the welfare of the people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
