Anambra Police arrest two over murder of missing woman in Oraifite

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the murder of a 33-year-old woman in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.


Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the victim was reported missing by her mother on March 13, 2026. Her body was discovered the following day in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop, Oraifite, and was later identified by her family.


Following investigations by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, detectives arrested the suspects, identified as Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, 20, on June 6, 2026.


According to the police, the principal suspect confessed to luring the victim to his residence before allegedly attacking and killing her with the assistance of the second suspect. The body was subsequently dumped in a culvert.


Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended investigators for unraveling the case and assured that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
