Renowned gynaecologist and paediatrician, Prof. Obi Bethrand Nwosu, has thrown his weight behind the position of the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, on the controversial rotation of the Nnewi North Local Government chairmanship.

Speaking in an interview, Prof. Nwosu insisted that the 1997 rotational agreement reached by Nnewi stakeholders remains valid and should be implemented as written.

According to him, the agreement clearly emphasized “tenure” rather than a specific number of years, arguing that all parties involved at the time understood the implications and deliberately chose their words.

He maintained that agreements freely entered into must be respected, warning that selective interpretation or disregard for established accords could create future disputes.

The university teaching hospital consultant also praised Igwe Orizu’s stance on the matter, describing the monarch as a wise leader committed to peace and fairness.

Prof. Nwosu urged stakeholders to uphold the spirit and letter of the 1997 agreement in the interest of unity and stability in Nnewi.
