NSCDC boss visits Delta train derailment, assures safety of lives

The Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Chinedu Igbo, has visited the scene of the recent train derailment at Owa-Oyibu in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State.


The visit was aimed at assessing the incident, monitoring recovery efforts, and ensuring adequate security at the affected railway corridor.


During the inspection, the Commandant met with railway officials, engineers, security agencies, and other stakeholders as investigations into the cause of the derailment continue.


Preliminary reports indicated significant damage to parts of the train coaches and rail tracks. Technical experts are currently examining the scene to determine the cause of the accident.


Igbo also visited injured victims at Central Hospital, Agbor, including five NSCDC personnel who were part of the train escort team.
He assured residents and commuters that the NSCDC, alongside other security agencies, remains committed to protecting lives, property, and critical national infrastructure across the state.
