Soludo appoints Uwaeme, Okoye, Okeke to lead key health agencies in Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has approved the appointment of three medical professionals to head critical health institutions in the state, a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the appointments include Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Obianuju Chinelo Okoye as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke as Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency.

Dr. Uwaeme brings over two decades of experience in medicine and surgery, with strong expertise in clinical practice and healthcare management. 

He has undergone advanced training at institutions such as Thomas Jefferson University in the United States, as well as professional training in India and Nigeria, including the University of Ilorin.

Dr. Okoye is a seasoned medical practitioner with more than 20 years of experience spanning hospital practice and public health administration. 

She holds an MBBS from Ebonyi State University, alongside a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Diploma in Family Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.

Dr. Okeke, an award-winning medical expert and lecturer, is recognized for his research in epidemiology and global health. A graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, he also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and has presented research papers at various academic and professional forums.

The state government expressed confidence that the appointees’ combined experience and expertise will enhance healthcare systems, improve service delivery, and expand access to quality medical care across Anambra.

The appointments are part of ongoing efforts by the Soludo administration to reposition the health sector and ensure efficient, people-centered healthcare services.
