US won’t lift Hormuz blockade until Iran deal is reached-Trump

US President Donald Trump has said Washington will not lift its blockade on Iranian ports until a deal is reached with Iran, despite ongoing uncertainty over fresh peace talks.

Trump, writing on Truth Social, claimed the blockade was “absolutely destroying Iran” and that the US was “winning by a lot.” The move comes as a temporary ceasefire between both nations is set to expire on Wednesday.

Tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil corridor. The US says it has turned back multiple vessels and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship attempting to breach the blockade, ban action Tehran condemned as “piracy.”

Iran, which has also restricted access to the strait in recent weeks, insists it will not reopen the route unless the US lifts its blockade. The disruption has already pushed global energy prices higher.

Meanwhile, possible peace talks in Islamabad remain uncertain. US Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead the American delegation, but Iran has yet to confirm participation.

Security has been tightened in Pakistan ahead of the proposed meeting, as diplomatic efforts continue to bring both sides to the table.
