President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the death of Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah following a terrorist attack on a military base in Borno State, TheCable reports.
The attack, carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade of Operation HADIN KAI in Benisheikh around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Several soldiers were reportedly killed during the assault.
In a statement issued by his aide, Tinubu expressed deep condolences to the military and families of the fallen troops, describing them as “unforgettable and irreplaceable.”
He praised their bravery in repelling the attackers and preventing further damage to nearby communities.
The president reiterated his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism, noting that ongoing military offensives have weakened insurgent groups. He also urged Nigerians and the media to support the armed forces and avoid actions that could dampen troop morale.
Tinubu assured that the government would continue to equip the military and prioritise the welfare of personnel while working with Borno State authorities to restore lasting peace.
