Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed readiness to partner with the Ayke Anthony Okechukwu Innovation Hub to boost digital technology investment for national development.
The Governor made this known during the commissioning of the newly built hub along the Enugu-Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Awka. The facility was established by the Okechukwu family in memory of their late son, Ayke Anthony Okechukwu, a 37-year-old computer scientist.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Soludo described the project as a major boost to his administration’s vision of building a “digital tribe” among youths.
He urged individuals and organizations to emulate the initiative to advance technology development in the state and beyond.
Soludo also emphasized the importance of innovation, noting that any society that neglects technology risks being left behind.
In her remarks, the Executive Director of the hub, Mrs. Chioma Okechukwu-Uba, said the facility is designed to inspire creativity, nurture talent, and create opportunities for young people, while preserving the legacy of her late brother.
Similarly, the Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Innovation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, noted that the hub increases the number of digital innovation centers in the state to 20, reflecting the government’s commitment to a tech-driven economy.
The event followed a memorial mass held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, in honour of the late innovator.
