Market leader puts smiles on faces of over 500 families to celebrate Christmas

Friday December 19, 2025 was a day to be remembered in the history of Ogbaru marine market in Ogbaru Local government Area of Anambra State, as over 500 families were seen jubilating, dancing as they go home with different items provided by the leadership of the market led by Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu “Ezeudo”as Christmas gift.

Among the items distributed include cash worth millions of naira, hundreds of bags of rice, wrappers, cartons of noodles, cartons of biscuits, maggi and many others.

Speaking at the event, the President-General of the market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu aka Ezeudo commended his executive members and the entire traders for their support to his office which, according to him, has contributed to the success of the day’s business.

The market leader who is known for his benevolence said he can only be happy when others around him are happy. His words: “I can only be happy, if those around me are happy, I experienced very poor background, we do receive some cups of rice and maggi from neighbors during Christmas but today I am blessed, I will equally extend blessings to the less privileged around me.”

The market leader who said he has respect for elderly persons was the first market leader to celebrate elderly traders above 90s in Anambra market. He even made it an annual event to celebrate the oldies and his alms-giving to the less privileged within and outside the market.

Among those benefited from the generosity of Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu’s leadership include elderly traders above 90s, less privileged within  and outside the market including indigent children from Imo state. 

In an interview, the member representing Ogbaru 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Noble Igwe who witnessed the occasion commended Chief Ochiogu and his executive for remembering the less privileged not only in the market but also outside the market, nothing that Chief Ochiogu is really a good leader, that ought to be emulated by other market leaders.

The Hon member who has sponsored several bills in the State House of Assembly also donated one N100, 000,000 to support the elderly traders above 90s.

He charged the leadership of the market not to relent in assisting the less privileged.

Hon Igwe  in his Christmas message  advised his constituents to enjoy the Christmas season with love, alms giving to the less privileged around them but should not spend extravagantly, according to him. “January is around the corner when house rent and school fees, among other expenses are waiting for them.
