Soludo’s aide, Ohaneze chieftain, others honoured as town union marked annual event

The immediate past Vice National President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ichie Damian Okeke Ogene, and the Managing Director of Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement, Arch Okey Ezeobi, have been honoured by Nanka Patriotic Union (NPU), Awka branch.

They were honoured on Saturday, November 7, on the occasion of 2025 Nanka Patriotic Union Day held at the Emmaus House, Awka, the state capital.

Other members of the branch so honoured during the event include High Chief Chinedu Nwofo (Obiekunie Nanka), Dr. Okechukwu Ndeche (Esq), Chief Lawrence Okeke, Mrs Victoria Obijiofor, Mrs Chiagor Ezeasor (Nwunye Bishop), Arch Uganeme Emeka JohnDonatus, Chief (Mrs) Idioms Ezennia, Engr. Bertrand Asibe Obum (Okwudinlo), Mrs Bridget Azolo, as well as Chief Ferdinand Nwankwo Ezeudu (Ifemelumma) who received a posthummous award from the town union.

They were honoured with Entrepreneurship awards for their services to humanity, especially for their contributions to the growth and welfare of NPU, Awka branch.

The town union also decorated Chief Raphael Azolo, founder of Radopin Supermarket Ltd., and Chief Emma Chukwuma Okeke, chairman of Easy Life Electronics, as its patrons.

Earlier in his opening speech, the Present General, Nanka Patriotic Union, Rev. Canon Barr Ifeanyi Ezeike, commended the Awka branch of the union for championing things that bring development and peaceful co-existence to Nanka community.

The PG equally congratulated the award recipients, and urged them to do more for the progress of NPU.

In his welcome address, chairman of NPU, Awka branch, Dr. Alex Ohaneme, noted that the purpose of installing the two patrons is to have elders, who will help move the activities of the branch forward through their wise counsels and fatherly guidance. He said also that the union recognised and honoured some members of the branch because of their immense contributions to the union’s growth and development.

He urged the patrons and the awardees to contribute more to ensure that the branch moves from strength to strength.

Arch Okey Ezeobi, Chief Raphael Azolo and Chief Ikechukwu Ezeudu (Ezeani Okosisi Nanka), who were some of the individuals honoured during the event, thanked the union for recognising them in a special way, while assuring continued support for the progress of the branch.

Highpoints of the ceremony include unveiling of the union’s cap and brochure, fundraising for the proposed NPU town hall for Awka branch, as well as distribution of food items to some women members of the branch.
