NUMW Congratulates Soludo, Ibezim on re-election, commends INEC, security agencies

The Chairman of the National Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Onyah Kelvin Chimbuzor, has congratulated Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, on their successful re-election for a second term in office.

In a statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Awka on Thursday, Comrade Onyah described the victory of Soludo and Ibezim in the November 8, 2025, governorship election as a clear testimony of the people’s confidence in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)-led administration of Governor Soludo.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful and credible conduct of the election, as well as for issuing Certificates of Return to the Governor and his deputy on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

According to him, the re-election of the duo represents another milestone for Ndi Anambra, who have witnessed visible transformation under the Soludo administration.

“For the past three and a half years, Governor Soludo has demonstrated genuine commitment to the development of Anambra State through massive road construction projects across the 21 local government areas and three senatorial districts, the building of bridges, the ongoing government house project, establishment of new towns and markets, improved security, and the creation of the Solution Fun City,” Comrade Onyah stated.

He noted that Anambra has now become one of the fastest-growing state capitals in the South-East, owing to the governor’s infrastructural strides.

Onyah further applauded the administration’s efforts in curbing crime and restoring peace across the state through the establishment of the Agunechemba and Udo Ga Ahi security outfits, which have drastically reduced incidents of kidnapping, killings, and other violent crimes.

The NUMW Chairman equally lauded the INEC for ensuring early deployment of electoral materials and personnel, which contributed to the smooth and violence-free conduct of the election. He urged the Commission to sustain this new standard of transparency in future polls to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.

Comrade Onyah also commended the security agencies—the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, DSS, and NSCDC—for their professionalism and dedication during the exercise, particularly appreciating the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for ensuring peace throughout the poll.

He praised the electorate for their courage and peaceful conduct during the election, saying their participation reflected their strong will to sustain good governance in the state.

While wishing the governor and his deputy a successful second term, Comrade Onyah prayed for divine wisdom and protection upon their administration.

He urged the Soludo-led government to be magnanimous in victory by carrying everyone along in the spirit of inclusiveness, and also called on Ndi Anambra at home and abroad to unite in supporting the government to bring more dividends of democracy to the state.

“Long live Governor Charles Soludo, long live Anambra State, long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
