The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Jonas-Benson Okoye, has praised the philanthropic and humanitarian gestures of Hon. Mbazulike Ignatius Iloka, popularly known as Mba Mba Nnewi, describing him as a generous benefactor of the church and the society in general.
Bishop Okoye made the commendation on Friday, October 17, 2025, during a concelebrated Holy Mass at Holy Trinity Parish, Uruagu Nnewi, held to mark Hon. Iloka’s 50th birthday, which also coincided with the feast of his patron saint, St. Ignatius of Antioch.
The prelate lauded Hon. Iloka for his recent donation of musical instruments, choir robes, and empowerment packages for 30 members of the Catholic Women Organisation (C.W.O.), valued at about ₦16 million.
He also acknowledged Mba Mba’s continued sponsorship of Paschal candles for the diocese, as well as his support for the elderly people.
“I thank Hon. Ignatius for his acts of generosity, charity and compassion, especially in these challenging times,” Bishop Okoye said, praying for God’s blessings on the celebrant and his family.
In his remarks, Hon. Iloka expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and parishioners for their love and support, dedicating his charitable efforts to the memory of his late wife, Mrs. Chidiebere Jane Iloka.
The event featured award presentation to the celebrant by Bishop Okoye, as well as musical performances by gospel artiste, Mirabel, and a colourful reception attended by dignitaries, including the APGA national chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa; Ichie Dr. Bishop Onyekachukwu Joseph Nzekwesi, (Chinakaribeya, Bishop Eziowelle) C.E.O. Pineleaf Estate; traditional ruler of Uruagu Nnewi, Obi Charles Afam Obi, among other dignitaries.
The golden jubilee celebration of Mba Mba Nnewi stood out as a vibrant expression of faith, gratitude, and service to humanity.
