Anambra 2025: The Diadem Fits Ohamadike

By Charlie Francis Nedum

For too long, Anambra has wandered off course. As the 2025 gubernatorial election approaches, the state urgently needs a leader who will restore its lost glory and steer it toward unparalleled progress, free from propaganda and empty promises.

In line with philosopher Plato’s admonition when he once warned, “the punishment which the wise suffer who refuse to take part in the government is to live under the government of worse men”, therefore as the State nicknamed: “Light of the Nation” prepares to choose its next governor, the heartfelt prayer of every well-meaning citizen is for a leader who will bring peace, growth, and true development.

Anambra needs a leader with compassion for the people, especially the poor and downtrodden. Someone will rebuild the broken walls of infrastructure and ensure that the State’s resources flow like rivers not into the pockets of the few, but into the hands of the many; breathe life into the agrarian communities, those long forgotten at the fringes of prosperity.

Sadly, the current administration has proven that when power lacks empathy, governance becomes tyranny. What Ndi Anambra have endured in recent years is a leadership marked by deceit, high-handedness, gross ineptitude, and the cruel adoption of predatory revenue collection tactics that punish the very people they swore to serve. Street vendors harassed, transporters extorted, and petty traders taxed into misery; this is not governance; it is oppression wrapped in bureaucracy.

But with Chief Dr. George Nnadubem Moghalu, a new dawn beckons, and a radical departure from the politics of fear and self-interest; mark the end of impunity and herald a new era of inclusive, grassroots governance—a government rooted in the people’s will, guided by majority rule, and respectful of the time honored role of our traditional institutions.

As the November 8, 2025 election draws near, Anambra stands at a fork in the road. The people must choose between the politics of the past and the promise of the future; between empty rhetoric and proven leadership.

Popularly known as Ohamadike Nnewi, Dr. Moghalu is a man whose name opens doors and whose actions close doubts. A veteran of the boardroom and a pillar in the public sector, who has walked the corridors of power since 1999, not as a bystander, but as a builder of systems and institutions. From his early days as National Secretary of the defunct APP, through party mergers, to his appointment as National Auditor of the APC and later as MD of NIWA, he has proven that a tree with deep roots fears no storm.

His track record on sands of time (or waters of time, if you prefer so) speaks volume, his leadership at NIWA is a testament to his accountability, diligence, and commitment to public service. A man who does unusual, uncommon things and being very modest about it.

Anambra doesn’t need another smooth-talking professor turned politician with pie-in-the-sky dreams. We’ve had enough of the Taiwan-Dubai fairy tales. What Ndi Anambra need is a man who does not speak from both sides of his mouth but, a man of his word. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” Chief Moghalu has passed that test with distinction.

Judging by his traits of character and accomplished former important positions in the society; Moghalu’s proposed administration promises fairness, transparency, and a genuine concern for the common man.

Beyond zoning arguments, his competence, national network, and decades of hands-on experience speak for themselves, as a round peg for the round hole.

With Ohamadike, the seeds of hope will not fall on barren ground, they will rather bloom and stand apart because when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. Anambra under Moghalu’s leadership, can and will reclaim its rightful place in the Nigerian federation.

Let us rise to the occasion and make the right choice on November 8, so that history will remember that we did not sleep while our house was on fire, and when our children ask what we did when Anambra stood at a crossroads, we will proudly enlighten them that we chose hope over fear, and truth over deceit.

With Ohamadike, the palm fronds will flourish, even among thorns.
“Anambra ga-adịkwa mma ozo.”
