The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for November 8 Anambra State election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has vowed that his government would investigate the murder of Anambra State House of Assembly member, Justice Azuka.
The lawmaker was killed by some hoodlums sometime this year.
Until his death, Justice Azuka was representing Onitsha I State Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters and members of the party in Onitsha North and South , Ukachukwu accompanied by his deputy gubernatorial candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife and other party chieftains in the State, alleged that the legislator was killed without the State Government doing anything.
Even though those who allegedly kidnapped and killed the legislator were later arrested in Asaba, Delta they were allowed to escape in the hands of Police men.
Although the escaped killers of Azuka were said to have been re-arrested, he said many still doubted the veracity of the claim.
Ukachukwu, however, vowed that if elected as Governor of Anambra State in November 8 this year he would set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the murder, saying that those behind it would not go unpunished.
Ukachukwu who said that the people of Onitsha have not benefitted from the administration of Governor Soludo except infliction of violence, pain and excessive taxes on the down-trodden, promised to flush out SASA team called Ndi Akodo whose specialisation, he noted, was to maim and inflict injury on the people.
He said: “I grew up in Onitsha. I went to DMGS. Soludo administration is a fraud. The people have not benefitted anything from his government.
“They have been damaging the people with Ndi Akodo. We will sweep them away. “
He assured the people of the commercial city of providing effective security to ensure their business activities thrive.
Dr. Ukachukwu also promised to review the current heavy taxes being imposed on the people by Soludo Government, improve power supply and water assuring that he would fix Onitsha which he said would be critical to his administration.
Ukachukwu also said that he would not need those with high academic records but employ people who have worked whether educated or not.
” My policy is work and eat. I don’t need certificate to employ you. Speak Igbo if you cannot speak English, “he added.
The high point of the thank-you tour was the selection of 400 people from each of the wards who must have voter’s cards whom he would be paying salary directly from now till after the election.
The gubernatorial candidate said that he did not believe in State campaign structure but wards and polling units structures, insisting that his style was operation deliver your polling units.
