President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as one of the most outstanding and hardworking members of his cabinet.
Umahi, a former Governor of Ebonyi State, turned 63 on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the minister for his passion, dedication to duty and unwavering commitment to delivering quality road infrastructure across the country.
The President commended Umahi’s hands-on approach to supervising projects, noting that he regularly visits construction sites nationwide instead of relying solely on reports from officials.
According to Tinubu, the minister remains committed to ensuring that roads and bridges being constructed under his supervision meet the required standards and are durable enough to serve Nigerians for generations.
He described Umahi as “one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers” who is passionate about delivering roads and bridges that could last for about a century.
The President also urged the minister to sustain the momentum in the construction, rehabilitation and completion of critical road projects in line with the administration’s agenda of improving the quality of life of Nigerians and stimulating economic growth.
Tinubu further congratulated Umahi and his family on the occasion of his birthday and prayed for good health, renewed strength and continued wisdom as he serves the nation.
Before his appointment as Minister of Works, Umahi served as the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District after completing two terms as Governor of Ebonyi State from 2015 to 2023.
