Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu arrested another criminal gang member Kalu Okafor ‘M’, aged 43 years, at Okpoko, Ogbaru LGA in the early hours of yesterday, December 3, 2025.
During the Operations, the Operatives recovered one (1) AK-47 Rifle, one (1) Pump-Action Gun, Two (2) AK-47 Magazines, Eighty-Eight (88) Rounds of Ammunition, two (2) Face Masks, and two (2) Hand Gloves.
A statement from the Police Spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the Anambra State Police Command made the arrest in continuation of the ongoing investigations into a case of conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, and car snatching linked to the activities of a proscribed secessionist group,
The feat, according to the statement, was recorded following the confession of one of the gang members Chukwudi Nwakpa, who has been in custody, disclosing how they handed over their firearms to Kalu Okafor for safekeeping after each kidnapping operation.
Also, Kalu further admitted that he received returns from the proceeds of ransom collected from kidnapped victims.
The suspect is currently assisting the Police with useful information aimed at arresting other fleeing members of the gang and possibly recovering additional operational weapons.
The PPRO said further developments would be communicated in due course.
