Labour Party’s 2027 Anambra Central Senatorial candidate, Ven. Ochukwu Ikezue, has urged the Federal Government and the Nigerian military to intensify intelligence-driven operations to rescue children and other Nigerians still held by kidnappers.
In a statement, Ikezue expressed concern that many abducted victims have been forgotten as public attention shifts to political issues.
He specifically referenced children kidnapped during the May 15 attack on schools in Oyo State, saying their families continue to endure hardship while rescue efforts appear to have faded from public focus.
He called on security agencies to strengthen collaboration with the police, intelligence services and local communities to dismantle kidnapping networks and secure the safe return of all captives.
Ikezue also recalled previous mass abductions in states including Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger and Zamfara, stressing that the success of security operations should be measured by the rescue of innocent citizens and the restoration of public confidence in Nigeria’s security system.
