Nzuko-Ora Nnewi PG, Nnewi North Council Chief of Staff reassures community befitting town hall soon
The President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Prince Jude Osumuoh has reassured the Nnewi people that his campaign promise to give the community a befitting town hall as soon as possible remains sacrosanct as his search for a parcel of land at a good site is in progress.
Prince Osumuoh who doubles as the Chief of Staff in the Nnewi North Council Area said he had no problem combining the two offices.
He said all it takes to succeed in handling more than one office at a time is to have proper managerial skills. He said he never felt overwhelmed running the two offices.
He disclosed that he has been making a frantic effort to acquire a piece of land for the construction of the Nnewi town hall as promised when his administration was inaugurated. He assured that in a couple of weeks, the land would be ready.
“As soon as my administration secured a parcel of land, the hall will be ready in the next one year plus or two years.
“I have not come here to play. What people think is not possible will be made possible this time around under my watch. I don’t believe in impossibility.
“When we are ready with the land, I know no average Nnewi man will object to making a contribution to the building project. They will contribute because they trust the man in charge.
“What hindered many people from making such contributions in the past was the issue of who to trust. The question was who is the man to trust? Will he betray people’s trust and siphone the funds? That was the question in the past.
“I believe in leaving a legacy in any public office I hold so that even my children will be proud of me as their father. I’m not greedy and I can never be. I’m self-contented. God creates human beings in sizes and you should not force yourself to be bigger than what God has created you to be.
“It is lack of self contentment that leads to misappropriation of public funds. Every good leader must guard against misappropriation of public funds, “he explained.
He said it would be a thing of joy to have one’s name written in gold after a meritorious public service.
“Nnewi has been a community without a town hall for decades except the ones built by various associations and unions in the community.
“But in a matter of few months, we hope things must have taken shape. After this building project which is capital intensive, other things will follow even before we finish the project. I want the hall to be commissioned in one and half years plus, “he added.
Prince Osumuoh said as Chief of Staff in the Council Area, he had no challenge in his line of duty except that some individuals still find it difficult to adjust to the democratic system away from what was obtainable from the Transition Committee arrangement.
“Things have greatly changed in the local government administration because it is under an elected Executive Chairman and others who are elected.
“Our commitment as a Council is to deliver democracy dividends to the people without compromise, “Prince Osumuoh said.
He also disclosed that he has good relationship with the PGs in the four quarters of Nnewi.
