The victim

Human rights lawyer and lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has condemned the killing of teacher Michael Oyedokun in Oyo State, describing it as a tragic reflection of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and government failure.
Ejiofor, in a statement titled “How Nigeria Failed Mr. Michael Oyedokun,” said the late teacher, who taught Mathematics at Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, was reportedly abducted and killed by terrorists while carrying out his duty as an educator.
He lamented that schools have increasingly become unsafe, while teachers and students are exposed to attacks, kidnappings, and fear.
According to him, teachers remain critical to nation-building but continue to suffer neglect, poor welfare, and lack of protection from government authorities.
Ejiofor called on the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, and security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
He also sympathised with the family of the late teacher, affected students, and the teaching community, warning that a nation that fails to protect its teachers risks destroying its own future.
