No fewer than 780 persons, comprising students, market women and the elderly, benefited from grants and scholarships during the 2025 Isiowulu Empowerment Day held in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The programme took place at St. John’s Primary School Field, Mmakwum, and formed part of activities marking Isiowulu Day 2025.

Isiowulu clan is made up of three of the nine villages in Obosi, Mmakwum, Uruowulu and Ugamuma, which came together years ago to pursue collective development.
Since the alliance, the villages have worked jointly through the Ndi Ichie and prominent sons and daughters of the area to promote unity and progress within the clan.
Speaking at the event, the Traditional Prime Minister of Obosi, Chief Austin-Collins Anibogu, said the empowerment scheme remains one of the most impactful initiatives of the clan, noting that about ₦15 million was expended this year to reach more beneficiaries.
Another Isiowulu chief, Chief Chidebe Umolu, described the celebration as a platform for cultural reawakening, saying that it provides an opportunity for children and youths, especially those returning from outside the community, to reconnect with Isiowulu traditions and values.
Members of the Otu Odu prestigious society from Isiowulu, including Mrs. Irene Anibogu and Mrs. Ifeoma Umolu, praised the initiative, describing Isiowulu Day as a landmark event.
They said the empowerment programme, though not a complete solution to economic challenges, would significantly support market women in sustaining their families, while the scholarships would help keep children in school and off the streets.
The event was marked by colourful cultural displays, including traditional dances by women groups and masquerade performances, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Isiowulu clan.
