Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra state Command has conferred Honorary Special Marshal on the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Igwe Chukwudubem Iweka III, Eze Obosi.
Sector Commander, Joyce Alexander said the investiture ceremony, organized by RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command was in line with the FRSC resolve to take road safety massage to the grassroots.
She said the ceremony underscored the Corps’ strategic drive to foster partnerships with eminent personalities and traditional institutions to strengthen road safety awareness and compliance nationwide.
She said, “The FRSC Anambra State Command has engaged the participation of His Majesty, Igwe Chukwudubem Iweka III, Eze Obosi, and Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council as advocate for safe road use.
“This engagement was achieved through the investiture of the Igwe as FRSC Honorary Special Marshal at a colourful ceremony at the Igwe’s Palace in Obosi.
“The ceremony reaffirms the FRSC’s commitment to strategic partnerships promoting road safety across all sectors of society.
“By engaging revered traditional institutions, the Corps strengthens its reach and influence to drive behavioral change among road users.”
Corps Marshal’s representative, Deputy Corps Marshal Chidiebere Nkwonta emphasized that the conferment was in recognition of the monarch’s exemplary leadership, dedication to the safety, peace, and well-being of his people.
“The conferment was also in recognition of the monarch’s efforts in promoting road safety and preventing Road Traffic Crashes.
“It is worthy of note that the Igwe had taken his passion for road safety some degrees higher when, months back, he had invited the Sector Commander to address a forum of all Traditional Rulers Council in all the States of the South East.
“The Sector Commander’s safety message was well addressed by the Monarchs, with resolves to influence the psyche of their respective indigenes.”
Responding, the monarch expressed appreciation for the honor and pledged continued support for road safety initiatives within Obosi Kingdom, Anambra State, and Nigeria.
He gave out specific advice and directives on some traffic situations that need to be addressed by the FRSC within the Zone in the spirit of his new position as eminent Adviser and Advocate on road safety matters.
The investiture ceremony attracted distinguished guests including Zonal Commanding Officer, supervising Edo, Delta and Anambra, Assistant Corps Marshal Stella Orakwue, FRSC officials; Special Marshals; members of the Igwe-in-Council; among others.
